Gopal Roy joined Troy Container Line in 2000 and has successfully managed the fiscal operations of the company for more than fourteen years. He fosters a work environment rooted in personal respect and service to Troy Container Line customers and staff. As the vice president of finance, Gopal oversees accounts payable and receivable, control of abandoned containers, daily cash flow monitoring systems and yearly budget and spending control of the company. Additionally, Gopal oversees both export and import claims and freight releases.
Born in Bangladesh, Gopal earned a BS from Notre Dame College in Dhaka, Bangladesh and an Engineering degree from Jadavpur University in Kolkata before relocating to the United States in 1972. Once in the United States, Gopal completed a two-year advanced program, which focused on traffic management as well as export and import management. Prior to joining the team at Troy Container Line, Gopal held positions with the New York Stock Exchange, Codelco for 22 years and Mediterranean Shipping Company for six years.
Gopal is actively involved in charity and community organizations. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends, as well as playing the tabla, an Indian musical instrument, with his daughters. Recently, Gopal welcomed his first granddaughter, with whom he loves to spend time, into the family.
